Latest Press Release from ITG:
The Launch of the new GR Yaris has perhaps been the most eagerly awaited hot hatch to date! The desire to manufacture tuning parts for this vehicle has also been something to behold, with companies from all over the world creating a whole range of upgrades.
ITG are now pleased to announce two additional products from the Maxogen Range to compliment the already popular Profilter (WB-512). Available for pre-order now, with stock available to ship in the next few weeks:
ITG GR Yaris stage one intake upgrade technical information – Part Number: ITGYARISSCOOP
ITG were lucky enough to have access to a GR back in January to start work on. Stage one of our intake upgrades was a drop-in replacement panel filter designed to work with our ITG intake Scoop.
The stock airbox works well collecting air from two separate locations. The first being a small, but effective direct air feed from the slam panel, the second from a solenoid operated flap underneath, which opens at approximately 3000 rpm. Testing both on the road and dyno, we quickly understood the air intake temps on the stock setup can be quite high. We took the decision to laser scan the area in question, which enabled us to generate a CAD model of a much larger ‘bell mouth’ shaped front scoop. The scoop also has a secondary air feed, designed to push a volume of air towards the airbox flap. This provides a steady feed of cooler air in this void, ready for when the flap opens, to be immediately taken in.
The results have been excellent! This small easy to fit modification has reduced air intake temps by 5 to 7 degrees. The part is manufactured using selective laser sintering and is both durable and attractive.

ITG GR Yaris stage two cold air induction kit – Part Number: ITGYARISGRKIT
At the same time as evaluating the stock intake system we laser scanned the engine bay of the GR to create a space envelop in CAD. Using this data, we designed several prototype full cold air induction systems. Testing then took place, both on road and at 3 separate independent rolling roads.
Every now and again we come across cars where the manufacturer has worked very hard to get everything just right! BMW M cars and Porsche’s are the ones that spring to mind. It appears with the testing we have done so far, that the GR Yaris falls into the same category!
The good news is the filter set up we have designed is a well proven concept with the latest turbo charged BTCC cars, the spun alloy box is designed to house either a traditional ITG foam filter or one of our new pleated cotton filters with a foam over-sock. Attached to the front of the box is a selective laser sintered scoop, similar in design to the stage one kit.
The data collected on a standard car was encouraging with all three vehicles we used for testing delivering positive results. Intake temperatures are reduced by at least 10 to 12 degrees, with the car feeling more eager at higher rpm and a definite improvement on any transient throttle inputs. Some cars are now being fitted with tuning boxes; however, it does appear the ECU needs to learn how to adapt to the increased airflow to show any useful gains. We have also been lucky enough to test the ITG intake on the first Yaris GR in the UK with a fully programable Motec ECU. This car is totally stock with just the ECU and our intake. We are looking forward to posting results of this as soon as the testing programme is complete.
